Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist to join our research team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in biophysical techniques, particularly Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), and assay development. This role involves designing and executing experiments to characterize biomolecular interactions, developing robust assays, and supporting early-stage drug discovery projects.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and optimization of biophysical assays, including SPR, for the characterization of protein-ligand interactions.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot assays to evaluate binding affinities, kinetics, and specificity.
  • Manage development and execution of biophysical and biochemical assays at external partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate biophysical data into actionable insights.
  • Maintain detailed experimental records and prepare technical reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the scientific growth of the department.
  • Stay current with advancements in biophysical techniques and assay development, integrating new methods as appropriate.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, or a related field, with 5+ years (Ph.D.) or 8+ years (Master’s) of relevant post-degree experience.
  • Proven expertise in Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) instrumentation and data analysis.
  • Strong background in other biophysical techniques (such as DSF, MST) and fluorescence-based assays (including TR-FRET) is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in assay development, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in protein production and cell culture techniques, including maintenance and manipulation of various cell lines, is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a small biotech or startup environment.
  • Knowledge of drug discovery workflows and early-stage target validation.
  • Familiarity with automation and high-throughput screening technologies.

The salary range for this position is $145,000-$174,500 per year. The actual compensation offered will be based on factors such as relevant experience, education, and skills. In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan options.
